Association between serum level of sST2, high-sensitivity C-reactive protein and atrial structure remodeling in patients with atrial fibrillation
Objective To evaluate association between serum level of sST2
high-sensitivity C-reactive protein(hs-CRP) and cardiac structure in patients with atrial fibrillation(Af). Methods 64 patients with Af were divided into persistent Af group(n=31) and paroxysmal Af group(n=33)
and 30 patients without Af were included as control group. Detailed informations were recorded including the basic characteristics
the levels of plasma sST2
hs-CRP and transthoracic echocardiography indices. Results There were significant differences in plasma level of sST2
hs-CRP and Left atrial diameter(LAD) between 3 groups. Spearman correlation analysis showed that age
LAD and hs-CRP were positively correlated with sST2 level in Af patients(r=0.188
0.454
0.357
p<0.05). Multivariate linear regression analysis showed that LAD and hs-CRP were the factors affecting the level of sST2 in Af patients. Logistic regression analysis presented that LAD
hs-CRP and sST2 levels were risk factors for Af. Conclusions sST2 and inflammation are involved in left atrial remodeling in Af patients
