Correlation between thyroid hormone and antibody levels and electrocardiogram in patients with hyperthyroidism
Objective To investigate the correlation between thyroid hormone/thyroid-related antibodies and ECG in patients with hyperthyroidism. Methods There were 80 hyperthyroidism patients who were diagnosed in our hospital and 80 healthy people as control group.The ECG of the two groups was compared and analyzed. Meanwhile
we performed correlation analysis and compared the changes of ECG in hyperthyroidism patients with different concentrations of serum free triiodothyronine(FT3)
free thyroxine(FT4) and thyrotropin receptor antibody(TRAB).Results The abnormal rate of ECG in hyperthyroidism group was significantly higher than that in control group(p<0.05).The difference of FT3 concentration was statistically significant with heart rate and P-wave time limit(p<0.05). The difference between concentration of FT4 and heart rate was statistically significant(p<0.05). The difference of TRAb concentration and PR interval was statistically significant(p<0.05). Concentration of FT3 was positively correlated with heart rate(r=0.429
p=0.000)
was negatively correlated with P-wave time duration(r=-0.247
p=0.035).Concentration of FT4 was positively correlated with heart rate(r=0.409
p=0.000). Concentration of TRAb was negatively correlated with PR interval(r=-0.283
p=0.015). Conclusions ECG is one of the important diagnostic methods to evaluate the degree of cardiac damage and prognosis in patients with hyperthyroidism.
