Objective To study the relation morning blood pressure surge and blood pressure variability and heart rate variability in 123 patients with essential hypertension. Methods One hundred and three patients with hypertension had 24 h ambulatory blood pressure monitoring and 24 h ambulatory dynamic electrocardiogram.According to the results of morning blood pressure surge

80 patients are selected into the morning blood pressure surge group（MBPS group）. Forty-three patients are selected into the morning blood pressure surge normal group（NMBPS group）. Blood pressure variability and heart rate variability are compared between the two groups. The correlation between morning blood pressure surge and blood pressure variability and heart rate variability are analyzed.
